Stop alert for Downstream device

I have a requirement where there are multiple servers are behind a network device, if for some reason my network device goes down( i.e. maintenance mode), there will be at-least ping down alert for server behinds the network devices.

Now if i dont want to receive alert for server ping down in such cases, how can i achieve this.

we are using a separate server on which teleggraf is installed and ping plugins is being used to ping devices.

the only way I can think of is to modify the telegraf configuration file and restart telegraf
before the network device goes in maintenance mode

in kapacitor this would be the way to do it : maintenance mode
