Minimizing downtime on TSM to TSI conversion

Hi,
I have a question about TSM to TSI index conversion.
We have an influx 1.7.6 database with TSM indices which is steadily growing in memory usage (currently at about 5Gb).
We are using this database to support an online system that runs 24/7 so we would like to avoid if possible or otherwise limit and control how long of a downtime we will need.

So for this reason I have two questions:

  1. is it at all possible to migrate index types while the system is still running or is this plain impossible?
  2. How can we estimate at least roughly how long the migration takes?

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.
