Getting error connecting influxDB influxQL in Grafana

Hi,

I am facing below error while adding influxdb(1.8) datasource in grafana. I am not using any credentials to login to the database. i use influx command to login.

Error connecting to influxdb influxdbQL.

currently datasource is empty. I believe grafana should communicate with the database even it is empty. or measurements required for connecting to influxdb?
