Hello everyone,
I am a student and recently used the AWS Marketplace to subscribe to “Timestream for InfluxDB Read Replicas (Add-On)” for learning purposes. Unfortunately, I misunderstood the pricing and received large unexpected charges totaling $297.22 over the last two months (Oct & Nov 2025).
This is a very difficult amount for me to pay as a student. (I have already canceled the subscription and stopped all resources).
I am posting here for two reasons:
1. **To warn other students and new users:** Please be very careful with the pricing of this specific add-on in the AWS Marketplace, as the costs can escalate quickly.
2. **To ask for advice:** I am currently stuck between AWS and InfluxData support. AWS Support informed me that Marketplace billing is “outside their jurisdiction” and told me to contact InfluxData. I have also sent an email to InfluxData support (support@influxdata.com) explaining this.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Or does any InfluxData staff member on this forum have any advice on the best way to resolve this situation?
