[Proposal] Regular Zoom Telegraf Clinic / Workshop

We’re looking at setting up a regular Zoom call - likely monthly - for an hour or so, where Telegraf users and contributors can join, and bring their problems, pull requests, or even show-and-tell. Think of it as a surgery / clinic rather than a workshop.

Everyone would be welcome to join, with or without a webcam/microphone. We’ll also invite Telegraf core developers, who can attend in rotation.

Telegraf developers will be on hand during the call to help with:

  • Debugging problems / diagnose issues with deploying / configuring / using Telegraf
  • Reviewing pull requests
  • Brainstorm ideas for improving Telegraf

When: 2021-08-12T17:00:00Z
Where: Zoom (link to be pasted here)

I think perhaps we should run a few of these, over the next few months, and see how they go. If the session gets busy we can use break-out rooms in Zoom to parallelise conversations.

What do you think?

I think it’s an excellent idea to try out, and to see how popular / useful it
is.

My only concern is: why use a proprietary conferencing system such as Zoom
(which has had its fair share of data privacy concerns) and not an open
solution such as Jitsi?

Antony.

Thanks for the feedback. I only chose Zoom because that’s what we use internally. It has the ability to have breakout rooms, and supports a large number of simultaneous connections. But if people prefer some other platform, that works, we can use that instead. I’m not precious about what we use so long as it works.
