In case anyone missed Paul’s announcement, we’d like to remind everyone that there will be major changes to the InfluxDB repo tomorrow (Jan 10) in preparation for an InfluxDB 2.0 alpha release.
The next branch on the InfluxDB repository will be promoted to the master branch. The master branch will then be used to cut an alpha release of InfluxDB 2.0. A full summary of 2.0 alpha features will be announced alongside the release.
For InfluxDB contributors, there are significant differences in the code and organization for the InfluxDB 2.0. If you are currently working on a PR for InfluxDB, please target the influxdb@next branch, which will soon become influxdb@master going forward. The current InfluxDB master will be moved to a 1.8 branch.
Another note, if you are running the InfluxDB nightlies or a binary built from the latest HEAD on master, there will be breaking changes in the 2.0 alpha. We recommend remaining on the 1/10 nightly release or building from the 1.8 branch until the migration path from InfluxDB 1.x to InfluxDB 2.0 is stable and fully documented.
Finally, to be clear, the InfluxDB 2.0 OSS alpha is not ready for production.
The switchover of the master branch on InfluxDB is complete and the next branch has been deleted. More information will be provided in the next couple weeks on the 2.0 alpha, the changes, and the features it enables.
