Purge data on InfluxDB

Hello,

Firstly I’m new to InfluxDB and databases in general, Influx is amazing and I’m using if with Grafana.

I set up a few databases and one is called ‘telegraf’, to my astonishment it’s around 30GBs in size. How can I tell the retention policy has successfully completed? As today I came back from holiday and the server had run out of space.

SHOW RETENTION POLICIES ON “telegraf” = 168 hours so 30GBs must be a weeks with of metrics?

Can I force a purge if it hasn’t run properly as it was out of space?

I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks for your question. You can either use the drop shard or delete commands to manually delete data.
