How can I use Kapacitor without influxdb?

I have used kapacitor (with Influxdb) in my past work experience. Right now, we are not using Influxdb, but I want to use kapacitor for my alerts.
So, here is my scenario: I have time-series data coming to Kafka, and now I want to stream that data to Kapacitor, so that I can use stream based alerts.
