High cardinality limitations

Hi,

I have a very naïve question about InfluxDB and it’s scalability mechanism.

I would like to know if a distributed (sharded) InfluxDB could be scaled up to 10¹² values (trillions) by simply increasing the number of servers ? Will the engine follow ?

I’ve found some old posts saying that for billions it’s strugeling with huge quantity of RAM but I can’t find any recent feedbacks on very high cardinality, and these old posts I’m referring to do not mention if it’s on one server or sharded on many servers.

Any thoughts or feedback on a case like this ?

Many thanks
Cyril
