Hi there,
Almost certainly the answer is no to doing a direct backup and import.

However you might be able do this by exporting the data as line records, and then importing that into your influxdb1.7 environment. (Full disclosure: My experience has all been on 2.x influxdb systems / not tried this myself )

Correct, the output of the 2.x backup command/APIs only works with the 2.x restore command/APIs, but exported line protocol could be re-ingested into 1.x. See the docs for influxd inspect export-lp here.
