# Influxdb Can massive data be compressed

If I consider storing massive IOT data in influxdb through mqtt telegraf plug-in, can I compress the data， Some compression algorithms can be configured

InfluxDB already compacts its data, the process is called [compaction](https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb/v1.8/concepts/storage_engine/#compactions).  
There are some options/settings related to compaction but not about its algorithm.
