# Change the RETENTION Policy for InfluxDB

Hi,
If I change the default retention policy for the InfluxDB from:
> show retention policies
> name duration shardGroupDuration replicaN default
> ---- -------- ------------------ -------- -------
> autogen 0s 168h0m0s 1 true
to: **1 month** , **2 months** is ok?
I must have some pre-requisites or some recommendations?
